About Ducks Unlimited Canada
A Wetland and Wildlife Conservation Organization
Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) has been committed to conserving wetlands and associated habitats in Canada since 1938. Our work benefits North America’s waterfowl, as well as other wildlife and people.

DUC’s conservation efforts are firmly guided by cutting-edge science and environmental and wetland research.
DUC’s conservation efforts take many forms. On-the-ground work is guided by the wetland and waterfowl research of DUC’s scientists. DUC works to change policy in favour of wetland and habitat conservation. DUC also delivers wetland and environmental education programs to teach Canadians about wetlands and the need to conserve them.
Wetlands are one of the world’s most productive ecosystems. They provide habitat for hundreds of species of waterfowl and other wildlife, naturally filter harmful impurities and pollutants from the water we drink, control erosion so rich soil is not washed away and provide beautiful settings for a variety of outdoor activities.
As a private, non-profit organization, DUC relies on the support of supporters from across the country: dedicated volunteers, members and staff who are helping DUC to achieve our conservation mission and vision.
Up to 70 per cent of wetlands have disappeared in settled areas of Canada, and we lose 80 acres of wetland habitat every 24 hours.
Conservator magazine
Conservator and the French Conservationniste are national, quarterly publications designed to inform, educate and entertain DUC supporters about our habitat conservation efforts. Articles may reinforce a conservation ethic, feature supporters and their efforts, as well as promote values of wetlands and uplands in terms of waterfowl, wildlife, recreation, water quality and sustainable agriculture.
Conservator magazine is a primary benefit of joining DUC and is available in a full colour printed magazine format as well as this enhanced online version.
